Howard Parelskin is a transactional real estate attorney and a partner in Kennerly Lamishaw & Rossi LLP. Mr. Parelskin’s practice focuses on representing developers, tenants, real estate investment trusts, insurance companies, financial institutions, and institutional investors in a wide variety of activities. Mr. Parelskin has represented a variety of lenders and borrowers in a wide array of real estate financing transactions. In addition to conventional loans, he has provided advice with respect to various secured and unsecured financial products, including mezzanine and asset-based financings and loans earmarked for securitization, and has extensive involvement in creating the base loan documents utilized by variety of institutional lenders. As a former executive of the Resolution Trust Corporation, Mr. Parelskin has significant experience in the acquisition, restructuring and disposition of non-performing loans and loan portfolios and has been involved in a number of debt workout transactions.

In addition, Mr. Parelskin has handled the acquisition and disposition of shopping centers, office buildings, hotels, and multifamily properties and loan portfolios. Mr. Parelskin has extensive experience in the representation of both national retailers and shopping center developers in the development and leasing of retail and mixed-use projects throughout the United States, and in structuring the investment entities through which such projects are owned and operated. Mr. Parelskin also counsels parties involved in 1031 exchanges and those seeking to invest in opportunity zones.

Mr. Parelskin is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and Stanford Law School. Mr. Parelskin is a member of the bar in California, Florida and Washington, DC. As a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers, he has been a frequent speaker at the ICSC Law Conference on a wide range of real estate and real estate finance topics. Mr. Parelskin was formerly Senior Counsel with the FDIC’s Resolution Trust Corporation and Freddie Mac, and was a partner with the firm of DLA Piper. Mr. Parelskin has been selected to the Lawyers of Distinction as published in the New York Times and has received a peer review rating of AV Preeminent for the last 20-plus years.
